Safiya Palmer is a 21 year old Jamaican self taught artist and college graduate from Connecticut, USA. She started painting in high school and fell in love with acrylic portraits. Although she got her Bachelors in Creative Writing, she continued to work on her technique with a minor in studio art and opening up this business. Safiya has always wanted to develop her own art style and speak to people through her paintings. Her art pieces all incorporate black figures in order to contribute to the underrepresented yet growing movement of black female artists. She is inspired by not just other artists with a similar goal, but also by the people around her whose voices she wants to depict with every stroke of her brush. Her paintings focus on portraiture of both the body and face of black people as a way to show the beauty of them and tell a story.
